Greetings, this is ~Ice~ who speaks, and I wish to share with ye interesting--and segmented-- trivia, regarding the Thanksgiving-holiday! The list is as follows: *The holiday did not become nationally-lawful until the 1940s; for the longest period, beginning with Washington, it was required to be presidentially-declared for such upcoming festivity. * * *It is unknown if a turkey was feasted upon; the most detail are records of some sort of fowl being collected, in preparation. * * * * *

32:10 This is because TOS was also almost 100% plot driven, there weren't really any episodes (other than Amok Time) that really develops the characters. Rumor has it if there had been another season of TOS this was going to happen, apparently we were going to meet McCoy's daughter. I actually think Star Trek has gone too far the other way; Science fiction is better when its not about character arcs but about using characters as archetypes or windows for the viewer to look at some aspect of society/technology in a new way. Whereas new Trek seems to have taken too big a page out of Wrath of Khan and become an action/adventure show..looking at you ST: Nemesis! Leave character arcs and the hero's journey to Science Fantasy Star Wars

Øystein A. 2 months ago Every culture has this honor issue. In my history (Norse) "honor" was important, but the word and meaning has been lost and westernized to the point where chivalry and honor basically becomes the same. Thus when people think of honor they now either think chivalry (if good) or honor killings of your own family (if bad). Nuance is dead. 38 REPLY

Hide 5 replies Justin Wyllie 1 month ago Chivalry itself has been butchered. Knights didn't really live by a strict code. As long as your lord didn't object to what you were doing you were chivalrous. 6 REPLY 筋猫Kineko 1 month ago @Justin Wyllie complete nonsense. 1 REPLY Yuna_nanda 1 month ago What’s the true meaning of chivalry?(English is not my first language, so I looked it up the translations, but it seems kinda off.) REPLY Justin Wyllie 1 month ago There's a good couple theories but the word chivalry originally was somewhat analogous to horse warfare so to be called chivalrous would be mean that you were good at fighting on horse which was the main job of a knight as they were mostly mounted warriors. It eventually evolved later in the medival period largely influenced by the crusades to be a more abstract term encompassing a vague idea of a knight being noble. Still this was not any form of strict moral code and was largely informal. As long as the knight's lord did not object to what they were doing they were considered chivalrous. So i guess you could say there technically was a chivalrous code but it really just boiled down to be a good fighter and be obedient to your lord. I don't think there is such a thing as "gender critical theory." People who self-describe as "gender critical" range from socialist lesbians to religious conservatives. If there's a shared theory there it's only the belief that mammalian sex is dimorphic and consequential, which is like agreeing that the sky is blue.

yeah the majority of people on the planet believe that mammals have dimorphic sex qualities and those differences are important in a lot of contexts.

In some pagan belief systems the black sun represents bad knowledge. Like a regular sun it casts rays but the rays do not illuminate. A spreader of bad knowledge is a false prophet. When Bowie says he is a black star that is what he is saying about himself. He was a false prophet. He was among the very small group of music stars that ascended to unnatural heights to the point of almost being worshipped. And he did not deserve it. Blackstar is Bowie's judgment on his legacy. Evidence: Corrupted dancing - throughout the video there is a lot of dancing and all of it seems trance-like, spastic and hideous. But if you look closely at the dance moves they are corrupted versions of choreography used by Michael Jackson, Elvis, Mick Jagger and many others. This is to show that the effect of the blackstar (pop star) is hypnotic and negative. Buttons for eyes - Four characters in the video have buttons over bandaged faces where the eyes should be. This means not only are they blind but they are pretending to have sight. Falsehood. The button-eyed - who are these button-eyed pretenders? One is Bowie himself. The other three, on crosses like Jesus, are dressed like Michael Jackson, Elvis and Frank Sinatra. These are all Blackstars, the false prophets.

Very interresting. Thanks for sharing your view on that. Now why would Bowie talk of that on the verge of death, wouldn't he like to keep on spreading the good image he had on most of his fans' mind, guaranting him some kind of immortality in all his fans' hearts?

Bowie wants you all to think stupid interpretations. LONDON BYE TA TA (Elijah) DANCING WITH THE BIG BOYS (Cincinnati) DRIVE-IN SATURDAY ("feels like Kings Island, teardrop") NEW YORK'S IN LOVE (the Go-Go Boys) PLEASE MR. GRAVEDIGGER ( ha-choo! ) CYGNET COMMITTE ( I bless you madly ) UNWASHED & SOMEWHAT SLIGHTLY DAZED (the whole song) ATOMICA (+ all of his songs; he is "Elijah" ~ my little babies) lol (I'm Enoch)... you all will think we are the devil himself, not many years hence. Just a couple of "fire-breathers" ~ momma poppa's coming for yews. yes, "in THIS MANNER" our enemies MUST be killed. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU (you didn't see us coming). "Suspicious minds, it was always TIME."

He always expressed sentiments about pop-culture being a form of false idol-worship (life on mars, for example). Maybe this is him regretting becoming one of those false heroes. The women worship the skull of Major Tom, right?

That's a conjecture on your part. David isn't around any more to explain what he meant. He did at times present fame and fortune in a very derogatory manner. However, at the time he produced this song, he did not yet know he was dying. Many of his songs are very enigmatic, and many were never explained by him. People think they know what he meant, but there is no surety there. It's like Major Tom. There are those who think it means the high of cocaine and what Bowie was going through at the time and is the most popular theory. He did say later during the time he was often high on coke, so perhaps it is, and perhaps it is just something he thought of seeing astronauts and the work they were doing versus what he was doing. We won't ever really know and does it matter? Listen to his music for what it is. We all have our own thoughts and one thing is for sure, Bowie's songs always have a meaning particular to you.

@Garron Helm Yes it's a symbol used by white supremacists and occultists. But the "light" from a black sun is hidden or false for people not within those circles.

@Maurice Hogue Of course it's conjecture. I don't know him personally. But many of the images and lyrics in the song point towards it. It's a very harsh critique on pop music and pop stars, including himself. More evidence: The astronaut: Notice in the beginning the astronaut is dead with a gleaming skull encrusted with jewels. That's not a literal astronaut. That's Major Tom from Space Oddity. This is Bowie's breakout hit. This is his creative product. The woman with the tail: The woman with the tail comes upon the astronaut. She has a tail, unibrow and a sinister look, obviously a devil figure. Or at least a satyr figure from Greek mythology (which was the original inspiration for the devil depiction). Villa of Ormen/Solitary Candle: What does she see when she looks into the skull. She sees a human-like candle with a small candle flame. The Villa of Ormen is the "Villa of All Men" and that is the body. And the flame is the human spark and the human capacity for creativity. The devil woman saw the creative spark that produced Space Oddity. Worship of the skull: So what does she do? She takes the skull to the city and the church of Bowie, populated mainly by women (groupies) is born. You say he didn't know he was going to die but Bowie was 69 years old. He knew he was going to die sometime and that's certainly an appropriate age to dwell on his mortality and his legacy. He was a "star, star" one of the biggest icons in music. But he was also a Black Star, a false idol who received undeserved worship and had no true answers for his flock. Later on in the song he says repeatedly that he never had answers. "I can't tell you why, just go with me." "I can't answer why, but I can tell you how, we were born upside down".

@Joel Henry You are free, as am I, to put any meaning we wish to put on it, however, Iman, along with his manager and producers have said he did not know he was dying when this song was produced. Yes, of course, we all know we are dying a little every day. That's a given and we never know when it is coming. But Bowie's lyrics were often a mystery from the time he started recording in some songs. Anyone, such as this guy can give a speech on their interpretation, and you and I are both free to have our own. For me, that is the beauty that was Bowie. His songs and music mean something different to each of us. We all have our own perspective and mine is not your's. Bowie questioned his own existence long before this song, and that of all of us. For me he was a beautiful, enigmatic man who wrote music we can dwell on for centuries and never come to his conclusions. He was very intelligent and until the end had no beliefs as stated in a post below. He did not turn to Buddha, but developed a great interest in it because of the love and peace it preaches.

@Maurice Hogue It's quite possible that each of these images and the lyrics have multiple meanings, don't you think? The three crucified figures do indeed resemble those other three pop stars, all three of whom had a "dark side" and were "crucified" in the press, just as Bowie was. They even made the Elvis one fat in this video with his Jailhouse shirt... And note the salute that the false-eyed one (Bowie) gives before the crucifixion scene starts, right around 6 : 12 in the Blackstar video ("...diamonds in my eyes" fades into the Salute, just as Ziggy "Diamond Dogs" Stardust faded into TTWD) also resembles the Nazi salute that got himself "crucified" in the press during his Thin White Duke period. See? The album and accompanying videos are just jam-packed with hints and allegory and there is entirely too much there to think it is just random. Also, while the album may have already been started when his diagnosis came in, it was still well underway by the end. Certainly the songs' lyrics and videos were revised along the way as he realized this might be the last one.
